Watch: Rowdy Minnesota fans start a ‘Wolves in 4’ chant as Timberwolves take a 2-0 lead over Kevin Durant’s Suns in Round 1
Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

The Phoenix Suns went into Target Center today to play Game 2 of the first-round playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Even though they hoped to get a win, Anthony Edwards and co. had other plans. Timberwolves fans piled on the misery and let out chants in unison as Kevin Durant and his teammates headed back home with a 0-2 record.

The Phoenix Suns needed to win if they had any chance of taking the momentum back home to Phoenix. But the Minnesota Timberwolves had the gameplan set around frustrating the trio of superstars the Suns have. If that was not enough, their fans wanted to make it even more memorable. In the last two minutes of the game and their team up in double digits, the fans started the obvious chant.

The timing of the chants was impeccable as there was no way the Suns could recover and win. It also showed their confidence in their team, especially with the way they played in the two games.

To be fair, none of the superstars in this game scored above 20 points, a situation that rarely happens in the playoffs. However, this was a pure team performance from the Timberwolves as they stifled the Suns attack from the first whistle.

However, Kevin Durant and his teammates could have capitalized on a bad shooting night from Anthony Edwards. But it seems the Timberwolves were so dialed in that their role players performed well enough to maintain the series lead. Now the series moves to Footprint Center for the next two games.

Kevin Durant and his teammates have to avoid the ‘Wolves in 4’ sweep

With the games going to the Suns arena in Phoenix, Arizona, the most important part is to win a game. Else, Kevin Durant and his superstar teammates will be staring at a possible sweep. If so, it will be the most humiliating aspect of their basketball legacies. Especially for Durant, whose legacy is constantly questioned.

The Phoenix Suns face one problem. I.e. it seems they still have not figured out how to play quality basketball when Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal are all on the floor. Despite playing in more than enough games, the lack of production from the trio is concerning. Their combined points, as well as experience, were supposed to make up for their lack of defense.

In the past 2 playoff games, neither has come to the forefront. Kevin Durant must elevate his team; otherwise, this chant from the Minnesota Timberwolves fans might come true.
