Are the Browns gearing up for another big move?

The Browns have had another very active offseason under general manager Andrew Berry. But is the team preparing to make one last move before the start of the 2023 season?

On Thursday, Cleveland restructured the contract of left tackle Jedrick Wills, creating $1.8288M in 2023 cap space. The Browns now have $36.425M in cap space, which is by far the most of any team in the league. The next closest is the Cardinals who have $26.83M in available funds.

Who Cleveland could have its eye on is unknown as it already has one of the better rosters in the NFL, at least on paper. However, Berry has not been shy in bringing in outside talent in the past couple of years.

The Browns traded their 2023 second-round pick to the Jets for WR Elijah Moore this offseason and a king's ransom, which included three first-round picks, for QB Deshaun Watson last year.

Cleveland will still be without its first-round pick in 2024 because of the Watson deal, but still has eight draft selections it could use in a trade.

Some players who have been recently identified as trade candidates are Colts RB Jonathan Taylor, Eagles DE Derek Barnett and Commanders RB Antonio Gibson.

The Browns may be looking to find someone to pair with RB Nick Chubb in the running game as the team has had a couple of injuries at the position in the preseason. Or Cleveland could just be saving the money for the future since Watson's 2024 cap hit is a massive $63.977M.

Either way, the Browns are clearly looking to take advantage of their Super Bowl window, which starts this year. Cleveland hasn't made the playoffs since 2020. If the team misses the postseason again, it will have some tough decisions to make.
