When the Kansas City Chiefs drafted cornerbacks rather than sign a veteran this offseason, they did so knowing what they had in L'Jarius Sneed.
The third-year defensive back has helped make the Chiefs' defense one of the league's top units.
Sneed has been all over the field, from nickel to safety, helping Kansas City to a 3-1 start. He leads all cornerbacks with three sacks and ranks second among defenders with two forced fumbles. The third-year cornerback from Louisiana Tech also leads the team in solo tackles with 28.
On Sunday, Sneed made his biggest play of the season.
With the Chiefs ahead 21-10, Sneed made a rush outside and forced a strip sack of Tom Brady. Six plays after the fumble recovery by Chris Jones, the Chiefs extended the lead to 28-10.
To throw off Brady, Sneed said he was messing with his helmet and gloves moments prior to the sack.
"That's just what I do to not let him know I'm coming," Sneed said in the postgame news conference.
Have to go back to beginning of play to appreciate L'Jarius Sneed's craftiness here. Goes from "what's up with my helmet" and "just messing with my gloves and backpedaling" to stealth rusher to Brady's lap ... all in about 4 seconds. pic.twitter.com/i87M5IbBCA
